David Cordero will be talking about the gay digital diaspora and Leehi Yona will talk about her research process examining the ways in which young people interact with the science, policy, and advocacy of climate change at the United Nations and in the Arctic. Come listen to awesome seniors express their Big Green Dreams for the future of Dartmouth! Bean Crane, Brad Garczynski, Fredrik Eriksson, Elinore Beitler and Spencer Chu will talk about what they hope to see Dartmouth accomplish with sustainability in the next year and next 50 years.

 

Inclusive Excellence Community Forum, 6-7pm, Rocky 002

Come learn more about both the "Dartmouth Community Survey" and the "Inclusive Excellence" working group recommendations, and share your thoughts and ideas with members of the administration directly involved in developing the College’s efforts to create a more diverse and inclusive community. In attendance will be Dean of the College Rebecca Biron, Vice Provost for Student Affairs Inge-Lise Ameer, Vice Provost for Academic Initiatives Denise Anthony, and Vice President for Institutional Diversity & Equity Evelyyn Ellis.

If you’re interested in promoting animal rights on campus, in the Upper Valley and in the world, join DART! Events in the past have included: Meatless Monday promotion; Earth Day display on the environmental impacts of meat; discussion dinners on topics such as animal research and wildlife conservation; and hosting major, nationally-known animal rights speakers.

 

DARTMOUTH HUMANITARIAN ENGINEERING, 8pm, Spanos C100 (Thayer)

Join an organization that works to find sustainable, affordable, socially conscious solutions for communities in need! DHE runs a wide range of technical projects in developing nations, including small-scale hydropower, improved cookstoves, and an initiative aimed at improving access to clean water.

“Climate Change 101”, 3:30pm, One Wheelock

People often know that climate change is an important issue, but wish they had a bit better handle on the science behind the problem of climate change and the technologies that we need to solve it. These lectures are aimed to bring activists, political junkies, policy wonks, and concerned citizens to a better understanding of climate change and clean energy solutions in just an hour and half! Professor of Engineering Mary Albert and Professor of Earth Sciences Meredith Kelly will speak. Presented by NextGen Climate.

“Young Hope in a Dark World: Leverage Points for Climate Action”, 4-5pm, Haldeman 124

We young people are inheriting this planet - in the face of climate change, how can we fight to protect it? Leehi Yona ’16 will be reading from her book, “Young Hope in a Dark World: Leverage Points for Climate Action”. The book is part of her Senior Fellowship action research project examining the ways in which young people interact with the science, policy, and advocacy of climate change at the United Nations and in the Arctic.


"Chemical Nation: How Americans Became Guinea Pigs in a Vast, Haphazard Chemistry Experiment", 4:30-6pm, Rocky 003

Mariah Blake, Murrey Marder Nieman Fellow in Watchdog Journalism at Harvard University, will offer a look inside the secret industry-funded war on science, which has transformed Americans into guinea pigs in a vast, haphazard chemistry experiment.

Dance, taste some home-brewed beer, and frolic on the fields during Green Key! Shuttles will be leaving from the Hop to the Farm every 20 min.

 

Nature Walk with Craig Layne, 5pm, Moosilauke Ravine Lodge

Spring has arrived at Mount Moosilauke! Join the brilliant Craig Layne for an afternoon walk on the trails around the Lodge to learn about the mountain's incredible flora, fauna and fungi. The walk will start at the Lodge at 5 PM on Saturday and will wrap up just in time for Lodge dinner at 6:30. The walk is free, but call the Lodge by noon on Saturday (or earlier to guarantee a spot) to make a dinner reservation, which is $8 for students and $16 for adults.
