Hi Friends!

Tonight Ethan Falleur, '16, will be leading a discussion on sacred spaces!

Discussion questions may include:

- What is "sacred space"?  Churches, chapels, and cemeteries are all "consecrated," or set apart for sacred use, but we can feel sacrality anywhere (a mountaintop, a seashore, etc.)

- What is the quality that makes something "feel" sacred? Awe? Wonder? Beauty? "Thinness"?

- Are some spaces more sacred than others?  Some people have altars in their homes, but these have rarely been formally consecrated.  Is this a less sacred space than an episcopally consecrated church?

- What actually is the qualitative difference between sacred and profane?  Is there one?

- What about formal sacred spaces outside your tradition?  Do you approach those differently?

Join us at the Canoe Club tonight at 9 for an engaging discussion over a round of free drinks and garlic fries!

Peace,

Marielle
