Spotlight Screening and Q&A with Boston Globe Reporters Sacha Pfeiffer and Michael Rezendez

 

Spotlight is the riveting true story of the team of Boston Globe reporters and editors, known as the “Spotlight” team, that investigated and then revealed the scandal of sex abuse by Catholic priests and the cover up by the Catholic diocese of Cardinal Bernard Law. Sacha Pfeiffer and Michael Rezendes were on the “Spotlight” team.

 

The William Jewett Tucker Center in collaboration with the Nelson A. Rockefeller Center and Hopkins Center Film present a screening of Spotlight followed by a Q&A with Sacha Pfeiffer and Michael Rezendes. The event is made possible with funding from the Tucker Center's Ziskind Jacob Lecture Fund.

Free and open to Dartmouth students, faculty, and staff. (Must show Dartmouth ID at door).

About the reporters and the movie:

In 2001, a team of Boston Globe reporters, know as the “Spotlight” team, began investigating reports of child sexual abuse by Catholic priests in the Boston area. The team included Sacha Pfeiffer and Michael Rezendes. In 2002, the Boston Globe published a series of articles about the scandal and the role of Cardinal Bernard Law in covering up the crimes.

 

In 2003,the Boston Globe won a Pulitzer Prize for exposing the scandal and cover up.

 

In 2015, the movie Spotlight was released in theatres across the country.

 

In 2016, Spotlight wins the Academy Award for Best Picture.
