Over the course of the year, Dartmouth undergraduates can be involved in a number of events organized by Geisel medical students. Here is the first of these events organized by the Geisel chapter of Physicians for Human Rights. Their events are not at all restricted to "pre-health" students, as many of their programs overlap with many other disciplines & careers. Additionally, if this is a group you would like to get involved with during the coming year (which includes a major symposium in January on Prisons & Health Rights), drop a e-mail to one of the Geisel student leaders, Natalie Ring ([log in to unmask]<mailto:[log in to unmask]>) to get on their listserv.

Healthcare as a Human Right

Dr Don Kollisch

Wednesday 24 September

12:15 - 1:15 pm

Chilcott Auditorium, DMS [conveniently reached by entering front of med school, turning immediately right down the stairs one flight and following signs]

Is health care a privilege or a right for all, regardless of employment status? Is health status determined by genetics and microbes, or by social circumstances? We will examine some of these questions, with a particular eye towards the implications of how our health care system grants - or denies - access to medical care.

Organised by Physicians for Human Rights, Geisel Chapter
