Sandeep Das is a brilliant percussionist who has distinguished himself not only in the performance of classical North Indian raga, but as a frequent participant in USA-based cross-cultural projects with groups that include Yo-Yo Ma's Silk Road Ensemble, the Boston Modern Orchestra Project, the New York Philharmonic, and Eviyan (Evan Ziporyn, Iva Bittová, Gyan Riley), among others. He is also a composer in the Western sense, whose works have been recorded and licensed for film and television soundtracks.

In his colloquium presentation, Sandeep Das will discuss the intersection (or non-intersection) of his various musical worlds, demonstrate virtuosic tabla improvisation and composition, and share video clips from some of his projects.
