Robert Hager ’60 has a reputation for excellent journalism and years of service as one of the nation's best reporters. Hager, who was raised in Woodstock, Vermont, graduated from Dartmouth College with a major in history. After joining NBC
in 1969, Hager reported for six months from Vietnam, spent three years in Europe (Berlin and Moscow), seven years in New York and 25 years in Washington, DC. Some of the major stories Hager covered include the Vietnam War, the massacre of the Israeli Olympic
team at the Munich Olympics, the sectarian strife in Northern Ireland, and the revolution that overthrew the Shah of Iran.
Hager was one of NBC's reporters during live coverage of 9/11 and the aftermath of the attacks. He has also reported from the scene of more than 40 aviation accidents and 30 hurricanes. His coverage has included 13 national political conventions, the nuclear
crisis at Three Mile Island, the first bombing of the World Trade Center in 1993, and the bombing of the federal building in Oklahoma City. Hager has won two national Emmys, two Edward R. Murrow Awards, and the National Headliner Award.
