CALL FOR ART
WINTER 2013 Student Art Show: ART + ACTIVISM

Want to have your work displayed in the student art gallery in the VAC? This term our theme is Art and Activism, as explored through the issues of poverty and sustainability.

In his Nobel Laureate lecture in 1964, Martin Luther King Jr. likened the evil of poverty to "a monstrous octopus [that] projects its nagging, prehensile tentacles in lands and villages all over the world."

We are seeking art submissions that address the difficult issue of poverty. Your piece(s) may visualize the tentacles of poverty, offer paths for social justice and equity, or illuminate how art can be used as an intervention to help eradicate poverty, and may be local or global in outlook.

We are also seeking submissions that address sustainability and the relationship between people and nature- whether through the use of sustainable materials, process, or artistic practice, or through subject matter.

Any and all media, scale, level of complexity, and approach are welcome. Send a snapshot or description of your work to [log in to unmask] for inclusion in the exhibition.

DEADLINE FOR SUBMISSIONS IS 1/24!
