-Professor Lee Witters, faculty advisor, Nathan Smith Society

______

The Nathan Smith Society invites all students to “The Affordable Care Act: What’s Next?",  a non-partisan presentation and question & answer session on Monday, August 13 with Professor Robert Hansen of the Tuck School and Dr. Elliot Fisher of  the Geisel School and The Dartmouth Institute for Health Policy & Clinical Practice (TDI).  They will discuss the impact of the Affordable Care Act (ACA), signed by President Obama in March 2010 and upheld in the Supreme Court on June 28, 2012.  This informative event is an incredible opportunity for students, whether they are interested or not  in a health career to learn about this landmark healthcare reform bill and how it will alter healthcare in the United States.     Thanks to Caitie Meyer 14 and Chloe Lee 14 of the NSS Executive Committee for helping to arrange this event.

Professor Hansen is Senior Associate Dean and Norman W. Martin 1925 Professor of Business Administration at the Tuck School and co-Faculty Director of the Masters of Healthcare Delivery Science program at the college, where he co-teaches the Health Economics and public policy course.  Dr. Fisher is the James W. Squires, MD Professor at the Geisel School of Medicine and Director for Population Health and Policy at the TDI and director of the Dartmouth Atlas of Health Care; his current work focuses on Accountable Care Organizations (ACO’s)—a new model of healthcare organization and delivery included in the ACA—and he is co-directing a program to advance ACO’s through research and pilot programs across the United States.

This presentation and question and answer session will take place in Rocky 003 from 6-7:30 PM on Monday August 13, with dinner from Tastes of Africa being served at 5:30.

Please RSVP by 8 AM Monday, August 13, to [log in to unmask] for a headcount for food.
