The Arts & Sciences Center for Instructional Technologies at the University
of Virginia in Charlottesville, VA, is currently interviewing candidates
for a full-time position providing technical support of a language
laboratory system.
Position Title: Computer Systems Engineer
Qualifications: PERSON NEEDS GOOD INTERPERSONAL SKILLS TO TRAIN FACULTY AND
STAFF IN STATE-OF-THE-ART COMPUTER APPLICATIONS. EXPERIENCE WITH WINDOWS NT
PREFERRED. KNOWLEDGE OF A FOREIGN LANGUAGE AND/OR FOREIGN LANGUAGE
COMPUTING NEEDS ARE HIGHLY DESIRABLE. To be competitive, applicants should
have a Bachelor's degree in the Humanities and/or Computer Science or at
least 5 years work experience in related technical area. Extensive
professional experience coupled with professional training and
certification obtained while on-the-job may qualify in exceptional
circumstances; knowledge of a second language and/or foreign language
computing needs a plus.
Position Description: Provide technical systems hardware/software support
services in the following areas: systems control software, performance
measurement and data base administration. POSITION WILL SUPPORT LANGUAGE
LABORATORY TANDBERG PRISMA AND DIVACE SYSTEMS AND A CHEETAH DIGITAL VIDEO
FILESERVER. Works closely with Director in planning and implementing
training and support for students and faculty using the new system.
The position is permanent full-time with benefits and reports to the
Director of the Center; salary range, $38851.00 - 60655.00.
