I followed up on young Siler’s description yesterday of a female goldeneye that suggested it was a Barrow’s. Indeed, I found the bird this afternoon in great light from Sunset Lodge (permission granted). Bill entirely yellow-orange, a little shorter and stubbier than the nearby Common’s, with a distinctive Barrow’s Goldeneye head profile. It was present with about 25-30 Common Goldeneyes and a female Greater Scaup. Photos by Catherine Holland will be posted later on the eBird checklist https://ebird.org/checklist/S156702651.
