Kyle Jones, Tii McLane, Catherine Holland and I just wrapped up an amazing 2 hours at Lake Runnemede. Last night’s strong cold front grounded a nice variety of migrants, and a few others showed while we were there. Highlights:

Canvasback — a female that was flushed by one of 6 Bald Eagles we saw, and departed with a big group of Ring-necked Ducks. I had only a fleeting glimpse as I arrived.
Ruddy Duck — single female, still on water
Bufflehead — 18
Greater Scaup — 2
American Wigeon — a pair
Red-necked Grebe — 16 in various stages of transitional plumage
Herring Gull — 1
Osprey — 1
American Kestrel — 1
Horned Lark — flock of 21 in pumpkin patch, may have departed
Savannah Sparrow — 1
Fox Sparrow — 1

Some of these birds will likely stick around through the day.

Chris
