On Saturday August 24, 2019, from 7:00 to 9:30 AM, a bird walk arranged by the Mascoma Chapter of New Hampshire Audubon is to be held in Norwich along the Connecticut River from Ledyard Bridge northward to the Ompompanoosuc River and vicinity. We’ll be looking for both water and land birds, and especially migrants. This free bird walk is open to the public. All experience levels welcome. Bring binoculars and spotting scopes if available. Walking might cover as much as a mile over fairly level but uneven and possibly damp terrain. In the unfortunate case of thundershowers or steady, heavy rain, this walk will be canceled.
Participants are to meet at 7:00 AM in a parking lot in Norwich, VT, at the western end of Ledyard Bridge. To reach that parking lot from Hanover, NH, go west across Ledyard Bridge, and then immediately turn right onto River Road in Norwich. Then take the immediate first left into the parking lot where free public parking is available on weekends. After looking for birds around Ledyard Bridge, we're to carpool northward with stops at locations favorable for finding birds.
