This is New Hampshire Audubon's Rare Bird Alert for Monday, April 8th, 2019.



A SANDHILL CRANE was seen along the Connecticut River in Piermont on April 
7th, 1 was seen in a cornfield along West Portsmouth in Concord on April 5th 
and 6th, and 1 was seen from Pitcher Mountain in Stoddard on April 5th.



4 BLACK VULTURES were seen in the Woodward Road area of the Connecticut 
River valley in Westmoreland on April 3rd.



A NORTHERN SHRIKE was seen in Enfield on April 6th, 1 was seen in Warren on 
the 2nd, 1 was seen in Pittsburg on the 6th, and 1 was seen at the Wilder 
Dam boat launch on the Connecticut River on the 5th.



7 SNOW GEESE were seen in fields in East Conway on April 7th, 1 was seen at 
Horseshoe Pond in Concord on the 7th, and 1 was seen in Auburn on the 5th.



A female BARROW’S GOLDENEYE was seen along the coast in Rye on April 7th.



4 NORTHERN SHOVELERS, 2 AMERICAN WIGEONS, 2 GREEN-WINGED TEAL, a LESSER 
SCAUP, 40 RING-NECKED DUCKS, 2 RED-NECKED GREBES, and a DOUBLE-CRESTED 
CORMORANT were all seen in the Connecticut River upstream from the Wilder 
Dam on April 8th.



A BLUE-WINGED TEAL, a pair of NORTHERN SHOVELERS, and a pair of AMERICAN 
WIGEONS were all seen at the Exeter Wastewater Treatment on April 7th. The 
plant is only open to birders on weekends when there are no workers present.



2 LESSER SCAUP were seen in the Connecticut River in Hinsdale on April 6th, 
7 were seen in Lake Winnisquam on the 6th, 3 were seen on Lake Massabesic on 
the 5th, and 2 were seen in Wilson Pond in Swanzey on the 6th.



2 GADWALL were seen at Dorrs Pond in Manchester on April 4th and 2 NORTHERN 
PINTAILS were seen in Charlestown on the 1st.



A BONAPARTE’S GULL was seen in the Connecticut River in Hinsdale on April 
6th, an ICELAND GULL was seen in Nashua on the 1st, a LAUGHING GULL was seen 
in coastal Rye on the 8th, and a GLAUCOUS GULL was seen in Rochester on the 
5th.



2 PIPING PLOVERS were seen at Seabrook Beach on April 6th.



40 KILLDEER were seen in a field in Greenland, and 27 PURPLE SANDPIPERS were 
seen in Rye Harbor, all on April 7th.



A VIRGINIA RAIL was reported from Salem on April 4th, and 1 was reported 
from Portsmouth on the 7th.



An AMERICAN BITTERN was seen in Swanzey on April 6th, and 2 SNOWY EGRETS 
were seen in Rye on the 7th.



2 PEREGRINE FALCONS were seen courting in Dixville on April 7th.



A few BROAD-WINGED HAWKS were reported from Hinsdale, Lyme, Portsmouth, and 
Nottingham during the past week.



A flock of 15 BOHEMIAN WAXWINGS was seen in Warren on April 2nd.



A flock of 32 EVENING GROSBEAKS, and a flock of 25 COMMON REDPOLLS were seen 
in Ellsworth, all on April 5th.



A RUBY-CROWNED KINGLET was seen in Etna on April 5th, and a HOUSE WREN was 
seen in Peterborough on April 3rd.



A few PINE WARBLERS, PALM WARBLERS, and YELLOW-RUMPED WARBLERS were reported 
from scattered locations during the past week.



A LAPLAND LONGSPUR was seen at Hampton Beach State Park on April 7th.



A few FIELD SPARROWS, VESPER SPARROWS, CHIPPING SPARROWS, SAVANNAH SPARROWS, 
and SWAMP SPARROWS were reported from scattered locations during the past 
week.
