This is New Hampshire Audubon's Rare Bird Alert for Monday, November 26th,
2018.
A SNOWY OWL was seen along McIntyre Road in Newington on November 23rd.
A GOLDEN EAGLE was seen flying over Salem on November 22nd.
A ROUGH-LEGGED HAWK was seen along the coast in Rye on November 24th, and 1
was seen flying at Woodmont Orchard in Hollis on November 21st.
5 NORTHERN HARRIERS were seen along the coast on November 23rd, and 1 was
reported from the Keene Airport on the 22nd.
A NORTHERN SHRIKE was seen in Sutton on November 21st, 1 was seen at Great
Bay National Wildlife Refuge in Newington on the 24th, and 1 was seen at
Jefferson Meadows in Jefferson on the 24th.
A female BARROW’S GOLDENEYE was seen along the coast at Odiorne Point State
Park in Rye on November 23rd.
A SNOW GOOSE was seen in the company of a flock of CANADA GEESE along Route
1A in North Hampton on November 24th, and 2 BRANT were seen along the coast
in Rye on the 23rd.
An ICELAND GULL was seen in Berlin on November 24th, and 1 was seen in
Nashua on the 21st.
A YELLOW-BREASTED CHAT continues to be seen at Odiorne Point State Park in
Rye, and was last reported on November 25th.
A SEASIDE SPARROW and a SORA were seen in Hampton Marsh on November 25th.
2 LAPLAND LONGSPURS, 2 AMERICAN PIPITS, and 180 SNOW BUNTINGS were seen at
Hampton Beach State Park on November 23rd. Smaller flocks of SNOW BUNTINGS
were reported from Durham and Littleton during the past week.
A flock of over 100 BOHEMIAN WAXWINGS was seen near Settler’s Green in North
Conway on November 25th, a flock of 10 was reported from Whitefield on the
24th, a flock of 31 was seen in Jefferson on the 24th, a flock of 36 was
seen in Shelburne on the 24th, and a flock of 8 was reported from Berlin on
the 24th.
A flock of about 20 PINE GROSBEAKS was seen on Base Station Road off of
Route 302 near Bretton Woods on November 24th, a single bird was seen in
Plymouth on the 24th, and 5 were seen behind the Vintage Bakery in Glen on
the 25th.
COMMON REDPOLLS, EVENING GROSBEAKS and PINE SISKINS were reported from
scattered locations during the past week and sightings seem to be increasing
in number.
A BLACK-BACKED WOODPECKER was reported from Pondicherry National Wildlife
Refuge in Jefferson, and a BOREAL CHICKADEE was reported from Trudeau Road
in Bethlehem, both on November 24th.
A GREAT EGRET was seen near Eel Pond in Rye on November 21st.
At least 30 TURKEY VULTURES were seen roosting together overnight in Exeter
on November 25th.
Lingering shorebirds seen during the past week included: AMERICAN WOODCOCK,
SEMIPALMATED PLOVER, SANDERLING, DUNLIN, GREATER YELLOWLEGS, and LESSER
YELLOWLEGS.
Lingering migrant warbler species reported during the past week included:
YELLOW-RUMPED WARBLER, COMMON YELLOWTHROAT, and BLACK-THROATED BLUE WARBLER.
Lingering migrant sparrow species reported during the past week included:
CHIPPING SPARROW, SWAMP SPARROW, FIELD SPARROW, SAVANNAH SPARROW,
WHITE-CROWNED SPARROW, VESPER SPARROW, and FOX SPARROW.
Other late-migrant species seen during the past week included:
YELLOW-BELLIED SAPSUCKER, RUBY-CROWNED KINGLET, HOUSE WREN, WINTER WREN,
HERMIT THRUSH, RED-WINGED BLACKBIRD, and RUSTY BLACKBIRD.
