This is New Hampshire Audubon's Rare Bird Alert for Monday, August 6th,
2018. 

A pair of MISSISSIPPI KITES with a chick was seen in a nest near Madbury
Road in Durham on July 26th. To try to see the Durham birds, park at the
Durham Town Library, walk out to the road and watch overhead for soaring
KITES. Two additional nests, each with a chick being fed by 2 adult birds,
were discovered in Newmarket and Stratham on were reported on August 1st.
All 3 nests were reported again on the 4th.

A family of 3 SANDHILL CRANES was seen in Monroe on August 1st.

3 BLACK VULTURES were seen in West Lebanon on July 31st.

A CORY’S SHEARWATER was seen off of Little Boar’s Head in North Hampton on
August 4th, and a BLACK TERN was seen in Hampton Harbor on the 5th.

4 PIPING PLOVERS were seen on the sandy shores of Hampton Harbor on August
4th.

6 STILT SANDPIPERS were seen in Hampton Marsh on August 4th.

A WHITE-RUMPED SANDPIPER and a LESSER YELLOWLEGS were seen at Lubberland
Creek off of Bay Road in Newmarket on August 4th.

4 SEMIPALMATED PLOVERS were seen at Jackson’s Landing, and 5 SOLITARY
SANDPIPERS were seen at Moore Fields, all in Durham on August 4th.

4 LEAST TERNS, 2 ROSEATE TERNS, a LAUGHING GULL, a PEREGRINE FALCON, and 2
FISH CROWS were seen in coastal Hampton on August 4th.

A COMMON TERN was seen near the Connecticut River in Charlestown on August
4th.

An immature-plumaged LITTLE BLUE HERON and 8 GREAT EGRETS were seen at
wetlands along the Connecticut River in Hinsdale on August 5th.

A LEAST BITTERN was reported from World End Pond in Salem on August 5th.

A YELLOW-CROWNED NIGHT-HERON was seen several times during the past week at
Kendall Pond in Londonderry.

A BLACK-CROWNED NIGHT-HERON was reported from Nashua on August 2nd, and 13
BLACK-CROWNED NIGHT-HERONS were seen along the coast on August 4th. 

9 PURPLE MARTINS were seen in the Hampton Harbor area on August 4th.

A BLACK-BILLED CUCKOO was reported from the Littleton area on July 30th.

2 CAPE MAY WARBLERS were seen in Pittsfield on August 5th.

A FOX SPARROW was seen in Millsfield on August 2nd.
