Although the Andes Mountains are  far from the Upper Valley and therefore this post is perhaps somewhat off topic,  birders here may nevertheless be interested in knowing about a spectacular BBC film showing Norwich's Spencer Hardy and the glacier-nesting finches he has studied in the high Andes.  In North America,  this film is to be first broadcast on the evening of July 25 on  PBS. More details and a short video on how the BBC went about making the  film can be seen at

In that short video, Spencer is the American who greets the  British film team when they reach the ice cap.

In the entire hour-long film about the Andes,  to be first broadcast  on July 25, Spencer and the glacier-nesting finches  appear in two separate parts of the film with the second part (being the video on how the film was made) near the end of the film. Viewers may wish to watch for the full 60  minutes to be sure of seeing both parts concerning the finches. .
