This is a reminder that on Saturday June 9, 2018, from 8:00 to 10:00 am, Mascoma Chapter of New Hampshire Audubon and the Mascoma River Local Advisory Committee will hold a bird walk along the Northern Rail Trail and the Mascoma River with leaders Susan Tiholiz and George Clark. This walk is free and open to the public. All experience levels are welcome. In this second year of coverage along the Rail Trail, we're to be in the area of Riverside Drive. in Lebanon, NH Please bring binoculars. Bug spray may be helpful especially for protection against ticks. Walking will be on mostly level ground, but in some places the vegetation underfoot might be damp..
Road Instructions: From Interstate 89 South, take Exit 17 onto Route 4. Travel east on Route 4 towards Enfield and take the first left turn onto Riverside Drive. Go along Riverside Drive for about a half mile and then turn right into the unpaved Rail Trail parking lot where the walk is to begin at 8 am. We'll walk a short distance along the Rail Trail and likely turn off the trail to cross the Mascoma River via the Packard Hill Covered Bridge to check the Baker's Crossing Conservation Area. Time permitting, we might then do additional birding along the Rail Trail.
