I hiked Holts Ledge this morning and was pleasantly surprised to find an adult Peregrine Falcon. It flew in, calling, and appeared to land somewhere on the rock face, just out of view. It was neat to hear it calling—I don’t think I had ever heard a Peregrine vocalize before. I wasn’t expecting to find Peregrines here in the winter, but eBird shows several December and February records here between 1990 and 2001.
