There is one less Rock Dove in the world this am. Witnessed a Peregrine Falcon carry away a pigeon on exposed rocks in the Mascoma river in downtown Lebanon. The Peregrine must have just knocked it out of the sky, as the pigeon was flopping around on exposed bedrock mid-river between Kleen Laundry & Whitman building. The falcon landed on top of the pigeon and then flew off downriver toward Storrs Hill.
In past years, the Peregrines have been regular visitors to downtown Lebanon so it was exciting to see one again.
