Started at the Prison Property at 6:40 this morning, then Lake Runnemede, and went through Pompy and Campbell Flats on the way home.
59 species so far, including 14 warblers.
Highlights:
Singing Tennessee Warbler at the Prison Property orchard area. Also a beautiful Magnolia Warbler, though the usual field sparrows were absent.
Tons of Blue-winged Warblers - we heard at least eight, possibly more on the prison lands.
Male and female Eastern Towhees mating and carrying nest material near the orchard.
At Lake Runnemede - no snowy egret, but we saw a beautiful Canada Warbler and several Spotted Sandpipers. Lots of yellow warblers.
Heard what sounded like a Virginia Rail, but I don't know the species well enough to be sure.
No mudflats at Pompy at 10:00. Bobolinks and Warbling Vireos at Campbell Flats, as well as a Solitary Sandpiper and Kingfisher.
