I just left Kilowatt South, where there are 6 Gadwalls (3M, 3F) in the open water to south of peninsula and 8 scaup (3M, 5F) at the south end of that large impoundment west of the dam itself. I went down for what turned out to be a very close look through my 30X spotting scope, and I'm very confident they were Greaters, based mainly on head shape and large bills. They were swimming and diving with 3 Ring-necked Ducks, making for a nice comparison. At the time, they were only 25-30 feet from shore, and lighting was excellent. If others view these birds, I'd like to hear opinions on ID.
Chris
