This is New Hampshire Audubon's Rare Bird Alert for Monday, October 12th, 
2015.



A GOLDEN EAGLE was seen from Pack Monadnock in Peterborough on October 10th.



An ORANGE-CROWNED WARBLER was seen at the Concord Community Gardens located 
off of Birch Street in Concord on October 6th, and one was seen at the 
Oyster River Forest in Durham on October 10th.



A HUDSONIAN GODWIT was seen at Jenness Beach in Rye on October 10th, and 
again at Hampton Harbor on the 11th.



Single WHITE-RUMPED SANDPIPERS were reported from locations in Salem, 
Hancock, and Derry all on October 7th.



2 AMERICAN-GOLDEN PLOVERS, a LESSER YELLOWLEGS, and 4 NORTHERN PINTAILS were 
all seen at Powder Mill Pond in Hancock on October 9th.



A WILSON’S SNIPE was seen in Sunapee on October 6th, and 10th.



Highlights from a boat trip that took place mainly in New Hampshire coastal 
waters on October 11th included: a POMARINE JAEGER, 11 NORTHERN FULMARS, 91 
CORY’S SHEARWATERS, 317 GREAT SHEARWATERS, and a BLACK-LEGGED KITTIWAKE.



4 CASPIAN TERNS, 15 CORY’S SHEARWATERS, and a LAUGHING GULL were tallied 
along the coast from Little Boar’s Head in North Hampton on October 9th.



A LESSER BLACK-BACKED GULL, a female NORTHERN SHOVELER, and 2 NORTHERN 
PINTAILS were seen at the Exeter Wastewater Treatment Plant on October 11th.



2 HORNED GREBES were seen on Lake Umbagog in Errol during the past week.



2 SURF SCOTERS and 8 WHITE-WINGED SCOTERS were seen on the Connecticut River 
in Hinsdale on October 9th.



7 RED-BREASTED MERGANSERS were seen on the Connecticut River near the Wilder 
Dam on October 9th.



2 GADWALL were seen in Derry on October 7th.



A RUDDY DUCK, 16 BLUE WINGED TEAL, over 30 GREEN-WINGED TEAL, and 4 RUSTY 
BLACKBIRDS were seen on World End Pond in Salem on October 6th.



Over 200 WOOD DUCKS were seen at a small pond in Rochester on October 6th.



Single NASHVILLE WARBLERS were reported from Portsmouth, Richmond, and 
Sunapee, and 2 were reported from Newport, all during the past week.



At least 3 TENNESSEE WARBLERS were reported from the White Mountains area 
during the past week.



An AMERICAN BITTERN were seen in Sunapee on October 10th and 12th.



There were several reports of AMERICAN PIPIT, HERMIT THRUSH, WHITE-CROWNED 
SPARROW, FOX SPARROW, LINCOLN’S SPARROW, VESPER SPARROW, and RUSTY BLACKBIRD 
from scattered locations during the past week.



A late-migrating RUBY-THROATED HUMMINGBIRD was seen in Nashua on October 
9th.



RAPTOR migration is under way with migrating raptors being counted daily at 
the Pack Monadnock Raptor Migration Observatory in Peterborough, and at the 
Carter Hill Observatory in Concord. Pack Monadnock has tallied more than 
18,500 raptors since September 1st, and Carter Hill has counted over 7,500 
raptors since September 1st. Be sure to stop by to help with the count!
