Hear ya, there. The doctors that I have worked with and medical solutions that I have developed so far have skirted the Medicare, FDA and other requirements. For now. As long as they are HIPAA compliant we can squeak by. Not sure how long that will last.
In one solution we avoid certification requirements because the master data store is paper and the solution is only for generating and processing said paper. As long as the final data store is not electronic we don’t need certification. Like I said, “for now.”
I talked with a doctor and researcher that was serious about turning her FileMaker-based EMR into a commercial product a few years ago, but I bet she has been bullied into submission by now.
