This is New Hampshire Audubon's Rare Bird Alert for Monday, May 18th, 2015.
A MISSISSIPPI KITE was seen flying near the intersection of Dame Road and
Route 108 in Newmarket on May 17th.
A COMMON GALLINULE was seen at the Exeter Wastewater Treatment Facility on
May 16th, 17th, and 18th.
8 SNOW GEESE were seen in fight over Hinsdale on May 13th.
4 RED CROSSBILLS were reported from the Town Forest in Freedom on May 13th.
An ORANGE-CROWNED WARBLER was reported from Walpole on May 12th.
2 CAPE MAY WARBLERS were seen in Hanover, and 1 was seen at Wentworth
Location, all on May 12th.
6 BAY-BREASTED WARBLERS were seen in Hanover on May 12th, 1 was seen at the
Pondicherry Wildlife Refuge in Jefferson on May 18th, 1 was seen in Nashua
on the 15th, and 1 was seen in Sandwich on the 14th.
A MOURNING WARBLER was seen in Hanover on May 12th, and 1 was seen in
Concord on the 13th.
There were several reports of TENNESSEE WARBLER, WILSON’S WARBLER,
BLUE-WINGED WARBLER, and BLACKPOLL WARBLER during the past week.
16 ROSEATE TERNS and a BRANT were seen in Hampton Harbor on May 16th.
2 PIPING PLOVERS were seen at Seabrook Town Beach on May 16th.
A WHIMBREL was seen along the coast in Rye, and a WHITE-RUMPED SANDPIPER was
seen in Hampton, both on May 16th.
6 SHORT-BILLED DOWITCHERS were seen at World End Pond in Salem on May 16th,
and 14 LEAST SANDPIPERS and 2 SEMIPALMATED PLOVERS were seen at Field’s
Grove in Nashua on May 11th.
An AMERICAN COOT was seen in Exeter on May 16th, and a SORA, 2 MARSH WRENS,
and an AMERICAN BITTERN were seen at the Alice Bemis Thompson Wildlife
Sanctuary in North Sandwich on the 13th.
A GLOSSY IBIS was seen in Charlestown, and 1 was seen in Salem, both on May
16th.
2 COMMON NIGHTHAWKS were seen in Hollis on May 12th, and a flock of 12 was
seen in Hancock on the 17th.
An OLIVE-SIDED FLYCATCHER was reported from Hollis on May 13th, and one was
seen in Nashua on the 15th. An EASTERN WOOD-PEWEE was seen in Rye on the
16th.
A YELLOW-BELLIED FLYCATCHER was seen in Hanover on May 18th, and a few ALDER
FLYCATCHERS and WILLOW FLYCATCHERS were reported during the past week.
A few BLACK-BILLED CUCKOOS, and ORCHARD ORIOLES were reported from scattered
locations during the past week.
A SPRUCE GROUSE, a BLACK-BACKED WOODPECKER, a GRAY JAY, and 2 BOREAL
CHICKADEES were reported from near the summit of Mount Starr King in
Jefferson on May 17th.
10 EVENING GROSBEAKS were reported from Surry on May 16th.
A few lingering WHITE-CROWNED SPARROWS were seen during the past week.
2 GRASSHOPPER SPARROWS and 2 UPLAND SANDPIPERS were seen at the Pease
International Tradeport on May 16th.
2 SALTMARSH SPARROWS were seen in Hampton Marsh on May 16th.
Several PURPLE MARTINS were seen at Cross Beach Road in Seabrook on May
16th.
A flock of 18 HORNED LARKS was counted in Sandwich on May 13th.
3 WHITE-WINGED SCOTERS were seen on Lake Sunapee on May 16th.
