There has been a female Merlin "hanging out" (in ornitholgical terms) near the picnic area at Kilowatt n. She was highly, HIGHLY vocal the first time I spotted her.. Both flying around and perched in a very tall tree with Bark that looks like Cherry.
Today I inadvertently misled her by playing a Merlin call for someone at the park who thought they may have seen her, and she took off from the big pine trees calling "desperately" for several minutes.i was hoping she has a mate and might be planning to nest in the pines, but couldn't find her in them. About half an hour later when I had gone on and come back, she was sitting again in the top of the same "cherry" tree I had originally seen her.
Yesterday I saw and heard a Merlin when raking in my back yard on Passumpsic, hearding toward the boat launch from town.. Hoping maybe it was her mate!
