Today Thetford Academy had a two-hour delay, so my mom was dropping me off at school a little after nine o'clock.
When we pulled around the circle, a little bird was feeding in the snow, and flew up into the trees.
I got a very close-up, good look at the crossbill after getting out of the car. It was the closest look I've ever had of one, and the first time I've ever really been able to see the crossed bill.
This one was a very interesting color... not red, but also not yellow. More of an orange color. Not sure what age/sex that makes it.
Nice to know there are some interesting finches about this winter. None have been coming by my feeders, though.
