This morning, after a bird walk in the Norwich nature area, four of
us, three of whom had cameras, continued birding first at Kendall
Station Road (KSR) and then at Campbell Flats (CF) in Norwich, VT.
Among more than 40 species encountered, highlights included an
American Kestrel (CF), a Solitary Sandpiper (CF), Least Flycatcher,
Eastern Kingbird, Carolina Wren, Eastern Bluebird (CF), 3 Brown
Thrashers together (KSR), a Red-eyed Vireo (KSR), an uncommon Yellow-
throated Vireo (CF; photos show all field marks), Northern Parula
(KSR), Chestnut-sided Warbler (KSR), American Redstart (KSR),
Savannah Sparrow (CF), and Bobolinks (CF).
After having been with us this morning in the nature area, Scott
Johnson then went to western Norwich where, in the Tigertown Road
area, he found Solitary Sandpipers, American Woodcock, Warbling Vireo,
Black-throated Blue Warbler, and White-crowned Sparrow. Thanks to
Scott for providing his report.
