Monday, January 14, 2013, at 7:00 PM in the Howe Library, Hanover, NH.
Pamela Hunt will present an illustrated talk on "Dragons and Damsels
of NH".
Co-sponsored by the Mascoma Chapter of New Hampshire Audubon and the
Vermont Center for EcoStudies. This program is free and open to the
public.
Welcome to the fascinating world of the insect order Odonata! This
program provides an overview of the biology and ecology of dragonflies
and damselflies, and shows some of NH's notable species. It also
includes some of the results of the “NH Dragonfly Survey,” a five-year
volunteer-based project that documented the distribution of these
insects across the state.
Pamela Hunt has been an active birder for over 30 years beginning with
a pre-teen visit with an uncle to Brigantine National Wildlife Refuge
in NJ. Today, Pam is NH Audubon’s Avian Conservation Biologist
focusing on bird research and monitoring in the state. Most recently
she authored NH's "State of the Birds" report. In addition to working
on macro bird conservation issues, she also studies whip-poor-will
biology and coordinates the NH Dragonfly Survey.
