This is a technology consulting opportunity to work with our client, a leading global investment bank. The role is based in New York City and requires 100% on-site presence of the consultant, i.e. this is not a work-from-home opportunity. The Technologist will be required to submit to a comprehensive US and international background check, drug & alcohol screening, and disclose financial accounts & limit PA trading while working at the bank. The candidate should expect to engage in several rounds of in-person interviews with our consulting staff.

The Technologist's role requires a skilled professional to work closely with our clients to understand requirements, design, and implement tactical tools for managing a large population of trades to be reported for Dodd-Frank compliance. The Technologist / Consultant should have significant experience building trade reporting and reconciliation tools for past clients in a Financial Services setting.

The Technologist should possess the confidence to operate independently along with the teamwork skills to engage in detailed and demanding assignments with his/her colleagues. The candidate will also be required to interface extensively with other technology support groups to access data, translate user requirements into a workable prototype in a very short period of time, and must be highly skilled at consensus building among all stakeholders to the project and be able to communicate clearly in one-on-one and in group settings throughout.

We are looking for thatTechnologist in the financial services industry with a proven track record for:

* Delivering code on time and to the required quality
* Displaying a high level of attention to detail on all development work
* Communicating and partnering with stakeholders / clients to accomplish project goals
* Assuming ownership of problems and driving towards their resolution
* Managing and reporting to team manager on all projects you are responsible for
* Assisting in the requirements and project prioritization process

Desired Skills & Experience

* 4+ years database development experience
* Extensive hands on development experience in database architecture, building indices, developing stored procedures, monitoring, performance tuning, and trouble shooting.
* This is a core developer role - need knowledge of developing complex queries using dynamic sql, utilizing query plans to identify bottlenecks
* Must have experience with Oracle, MS SQL Server 2008, Access, and mySQL
* 3-5 years Unix/Linux shell scripting
* .net and C# skills required
* Must be a self starter with the ability to investigate and work independently without supervision
