PROPULSION ENGINEER
Location: DARPA, Arlington, VA
Salary Requirement: Negotiable
Clearance Required: TOP SECRET (SCI preferred)

Schafer is seeking a Propulsion Engineer to provide systems engineering and scientific support to DARPA to achieve technical breakthroughs that enable critical improvements in military capabilities. The successful candidate will perform a variety of systems engineering and technical tasks relating to high payoff tactical technologies for advanced weapons, platforms and space systems.
¡  Support the development of new concept studies, technology maturation plans, design trade studies, risk reduction plans, test plans, integration plans, and acquisition strategies to be incorporated into DoD's next generation technology aircraft and missiles.
¡  Assist the Government program manager in continually assessing the status of critical path activities and system developers' contractual deliverables to proactively identify and mitigate potential project risks related to cost, schedule and technical performance.
¡  Witness wind tunnel and live tests and review contractor engineering plans, milestones, technical reports, test reports and provide recommendations to the Government program manager.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)
¡  Top Secret clearance
¡  BS in Aeronautical or Aerospace Engineering
¡  CFD analysis involving complex simulation scenarios with transonic or turbulent flows
¡  Avionics hardware design, development, testing, and integration (10+ years preferred)
¡  Aircraft systems testing and integration (10+ years preferred)
¡  Aerospace propulsion (5+ years preferred) and expertise in one or more of the following:
­    Electric propulsion
­    5+ years of hands on experience in supersonic propulsion, inlet design or nozzle design
­    Tactical turbine engine systems
­    Jet noise reduction or acoustic analysis
­    Aerospace software system development, test and verification (10+ years preferred)
Desired Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs):
¡  Top Secret/SCI clearance preferred
¡  MS or PhD in Aeronautical or Aerospace Engineering or a related field
­   Engine design, analysis, simulation and/or testing/validation
¡  DARPA experience
