Two events this upcoming weekend that might be of interest:
Eagle Watch at Wilder Dam - Wilder, VT
Saturday, February 11th beginning at 10 a.m.
In the winter months, bald eagles take advantage of the open water below
Wilder Dam to fish while enjoying a relatively sheltered roost among the towering pines that are found along the steep cliffs abutting the
river. Join ornithologist George Clark and other chapter members as we
gather to see how many eagles are around and look for other waterfowl
species such as hooded mergansers.
Participants are welcome to come at any time during the two hours and to stay as
long as they wish. Bring binoculars and/or scopes if available. Dress
warmly. Observations are to be made in the parking lot just west of
Wilder Dam. In the event of inclement weather, the event will be
rescheduled for Sunday, February 12th at 10:00 a.m.
Backyard Winter Bird SurveyThis annual event takes place this weekend, February 11th & February 12th.
Coordinated in conjunction with NH Audubon, it is an important tool for
gathering valuable information about local, winter bird populations.
