The Simon Pearce floodplain was exceedingly quiet, with nothing of
note. Ed Hack and I continued on and found 9 Horned Larks at Windsor's
Great River Farm, but little else.
Thanks to a text by Spencer Hardy, several of us were alerted to a Ruddy
Duck (likely an immature male) in the Mink Brook Cove downriver from
Ledyard Bridge. The bird was distant, but in the bright late afternoon
sun, its compact size, white facial patch, and cocked tail were diagnostic.
