This is a repeat, slightly revised, announcement that from 8:00 to
10:30 AM on Sunday October 30, 2011, Vermont County Birding Quest is
to hold a bird walk in Windsor, VT (road and carpooling instructions
below). Chris Rimmer and George Clark are to lead. This walk is free
and open to the public. Children accompanied by an adult are welcome.
Participants should be prepared to walk as much as two miles over
uneven terrain. Dress warmly. Bring binoculars and scopes if
available. We'll be seeking all kinds of birds including migrant
waterbirds and possible winter finches. This walk will be canceled in
the case of steady precipitation. After birding near Lake Runnemede,
it is planned to continue to the area of the Windsor Industrial Park,
where plant food crops for birds have recently been excellent and
where a Dickcissel and numerous other birds were present this past
Saturday.

Road and carpooling instructions: From Exit 9 off I-91, turn south on
Route 5 towards Windsor. After going about 3 miles southward on Route
5, look for the Back Forty guns and ammo store on the left, with a
Price Chopper supermarket just beyond, also on the left. This walk
will begin at 8:00 AM by the entrance to a long driveway directly
across Route 5 from the Back Forty store. Please do not drive into
that driveway, vehicular use of which is reserved for local residents.
Parking is available along Route 5, but be sure your site is legal.

Carpoolers from towns around the Hanover/Norwich area are to leave
from the River Road commuter parking lot in Norwich by the Ledyard
Bridge at 7:30 AM that morning.
