Please join members of the NH Audubon Society's Mascoma Chapter for a bird walk in Lyme's Trout Pond Forest on Thursday, June 30th beginning at 7 a.m. We'll gather in the Lyme School parking lot (junction of NH Rt 10 and E. Thetford Rd.) to car pool out to the forest's trail head. All experience levels welcome.
Trout Pond offers a variety of different habitats including early-successional, mature mixed woods, the pond and wetlands. A trip in June 2010 produced several notable sightings including an alder flycatcher, a swamp sparrow, a pair of hooded mergansers and an American bittern. The terrain is mostly level with a couple of rocky transverses near the pond and the wetland.
