This morning Ed Hack and I looked and listened for birds in southern
Hartland and northern Windsor. Several highlights among 46 species
follow.
At the Windsor prison farm, a Brewster's Warbler (a hybrid in the Blue-
winged/Golden-winged Warbler complex) showed entirely whitish
underparts and sang a song which did not match either a typical Blue-
winged song or a typical Golden-winged song. Elsewhere, an unseen
warbler sang a "Blue-winged song" along the east side of County Road
to the south of the Hartland-Windsor town boundary.
Additional bird species of interest at the Windsor prison farm
included a Ruffed Grouse, an American Kestrel, a Willow Flycatcher, a
Brown Thrasher, three Field Sparrows, a brilliantly colored male
Indigo Bunting, and Bobolinks. Singing birds along Rice Road in
Hartland included a Black-throated Blue Warbler, a Savannah Sparrow,
and a Bobolink.
