I am still visited by LARGE numbers of redpolls at two deck feeders fighting
frantically over the scant remains of my thistle/sunflower chip mix. A
very, very conservative estimate from watching them startle into the sky at
one time is 40, but I think there could be over twice that number. I'm
getting more seed because these birds are hungry! And they're so cute I
can't say no.
The juncos have seemingly thinned down from the 115 that I counted about a
week ago in my back yard, but they still have a huge presence.
Still hearing the wheata-wheat bird. Think it has an introductory clause
that's softer. I'm looking for it to be a Carolina Wren, but have not yet
succeeded in sneaking up on it.
