We wandered about the eastern side of Windsor County today, from the
Ompompanoosuc River south to Springfield Meadow. Although motivated by
the County Quest competition, the spirit of the day was enjoying birds
together on a beautiful spring day. Species highlights below; all lists
destine for eBird tomorrow.

American Wigeon, pair at Springfield Meadow
Red-breasted Merganser, 3 at Ledyard Bridge
Common Loon, in river near Springfield Meadow (2nd earliest for Windsor
County in eBird)
Pied-billed Grebe, 1 each at Ledyard Bridge & Lake Runnemede
Greater Yellowlegs, 1 at N. Springfield Res. (earliest ever, by 10 days)
Northern Rough-winged Swallow, 1 at N. Springfield Res. (earliest ever,
by 2 days)
Barn Swallow, at Paradise Park (2nd earliest)
Savannah Sparrow, at Paradise Park
Swamp Sparrow, 2 at Paradise Park (earliest by 1 day)

George Clark, Ed Hack, Spencer Hardy, Doug Hardy (scribe), and Chris Rimmer
