Made a short visit this evening to the end of our driveway, and was fortunate to hear the nasal call and then the aerial song of my 1st American Woodcock of the spring season.  One flight pattern brought the Woodcock approximately 30' above my spot.  Where the guy is finding nourishment is beyond me; still a foot of snow in our yard.
