Guys

This is the link to my new novel, being published by Rivages at the end of the month.

http://www.payot-rivages.net/livre_Un-autre-soleil--Timothy-Williams_ean13_9782743622169.html

I first wrote the book in English back in 1982 just after Gollancz took on my first Italian book. It was written on a typewriter and when the manuscript was sent back, I retyped the rewrite. Then in 1983, I got a proper job and not used to spending money, I was able to pay for my first computer - an Apple IIe - at the end of a couple of months. So the book has been in some form on my hard disk for twenty eight years. Except I didn't know what a hard disk was until I bought my first Mac in 1992.

It was in 2009 that there was a long strike here and I was free for six weeks so with the help of googletranslate I put the book into French. Friends went through the French sorting out the clumsy bits and I discovered just how hard it is to write French correctly.

Rivages who had already published two of my books in translation took it on immediately but it has taken some sixteen months to get from manuscript to paperback.

And Nisus ? Quite sincerely I don't know whether Nisus as a wp played a major role in writing the book. Everything was done in Nisus and that allowed me to know my way around the program and get it to do what I wanted from it. But in all honesty, pure text in one language can be done on any processor.

What makes Nisus different for me is you guys (and dolls). When there is a problem, either purely technical involving Nisus or more generally involving general culture, this list is unbeatable for its knowledge and its willingness to help.

In other words: heartfelt thanks, people.
