I have been reading this thread with lively interest, because I also have the
problem of having to scan books I wrote on an early Olivetti computer I used
before I discovered the existence of the Mac. It has disappeared completely – I
still have the disks, but they are useless.
I have never found anything better than Omnipage, and that is why I still scan
with it, on a Classic environement, for which I have kept my last laptop of the
kind. I use it for scanning (and save on Nisus classic), and also for things like
the Diderot-D'Alembert Encyclopedia, which has not bin adapted for OS 10, and a
couple of other things. I was about to sell this computer when I changed to 10,
but then I saw they went very cheap, and thought I'd keept it. What a good idea
that was!!!
