Healthcare Analyst/Consultant Position at Fletcher Spaght, Inc.

COMPANY BACKGROUND:  Fletcher Spaght Inc. (FSI), founded in 1983, is a strategy consulting firm focusing on: Healthcare and High Technology. Each of our employees has a strong background in some aspect of healthcare or high technology, and a keen interest in business strategies for related industries.  Our clients include young companies (generally venture capital funded), major corporations launching new ventures, investment firms and research institutions.  FSI is a small, collegial firm, which provides a supportive work environment and a great situation for learning. With a typical case duration of one to three months, FSI offers the opportunity for exposure to a wide range of exciting projects and technologies.  Typical consulting projects include:
-	Market strategy
-	Prioritization of R&D pipeline
-	Competitive analysis
-	Due diligence for evaluation of investment opportunities
-	Business plan development
-	Acquisition searches
-	Understanding customer economics
-	Financial projections
Fletcher Spaght launched a venture capital fund in 2001 and a second in 2007, and Analysts are expected to work on investment due diligence and projects for portfolio companies, as well.  Fletcher Spaght is located in Boston, MA, and works with companies and organizations throughout the US and around the world.

QUALIFICATIONS: Your background should include one or more degrees and summer or full-time work experience (1-3 years) in biological science/engineering, or a mix of business and medical devices/ biotechnology/ bio-science.  You should have a strong interest in exploring strategic issues of cutting-edge biotech, medical device, pharma or related companies. We regret that as a small firm, we cannot help with visa issues.  You must have the legal right to work in the US indefinitely.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:  Responsibilities include information gathering, data analysis, and presentation writing.  As most of our work is in emerging technologies, primary research comprises the majority of our efforts.  Primary research involves interviews with clients, their customers, their competitors, and industry experts.  In healthcare, these interviews are often with opinion leading and community based physicians, biotech research staff, etc.  Depending on the nature of the project, time is also devoted to secondary research, which emphasizes work with the scientific and medical literature, company financial and marketing materials, regulatory and patent filings, etc.  New members work with the more senior members of the consulting staff in project teams to address key strategic issues for clients.  As skills develop, staff members are given increased levels of responsibility and autonomy, and progress toward greater client interaction, presentation delivery, and limited travel.
