This is New Hampshire Audubon's Rare Bird Alert for Wednesday, June 9th, 
2010.



An immature LITTLE GULL was seen in Hampton Harbor on June 4th, and 12 
ROSEATE TERNS, and a LAUGHING GULL were seen here on the 5th.



3 SOOTY SHEARWATERS were seen along the coast on June 6th, and a GREATER 
SHEARWATER, 26 WILSON'S STORM-PETRELS, 132 NORTHERN GANNETS, and a BLACK 
GUILLEMOT were all reported from the coast on June 5th.



A BLACK VULTURE was seen circling over downtown Newmarket on June 4th, and 
one was seen at the summit of Wantastiquet Mountain in West Chesterfield on 
June 5th.



2 CERULEAN WARBLERS were reported from along the trail up Wantastiquet 
Mountain in West Chesterfield on June 4th, and one was again reported from 
the same area on June 5th. The trail starts at the end of Mountain Road.



A BREWSTER'S WARBLER, a hybrid between a BLUE-WINGED and a GOLDEN-WINGED 
WARBLER, was reported from Hudson just off Dracut Road, at the power lines 
between Groves Farm and Brookfield Roads on June 2nd, and again on the 7th.



3 RUDDY DUCKS were seen at the Derry Wastewater Treatment Plant on June 1st, 
and again on June 4th. The treatment plant is currently closed to birders.



2 WHITE-RUMPED SANDPIPERS were seen near Rye Harbor on June 5th, and a flock 
of 11 was reported from the coast on the 6th.



An UPLAND SANDPIPER, a GRASSHOPPER SPARROW, and a VESPER SPARROW were all 
reported from the Pease International Tradeport area on June 6th.



2 BICKNELL'S THRUSHES were reported from South Baldface, and a TENNESSEE 
WARBLER was reported on Meeder Ridge, all in Chatham on June 5th.



6 SALTMARSH SPARROWS and 2 AMERICAN BITTERNS were seen in Hampton Marsh on 
June 5th. A NELSON'S SPARROW was reported from the Odiorne Point State Park 
area on June 6th.



A PURPLE MARTIN and an ORCHARD ORIOLE were reported from the Hinsdale 
setbacks on the Connecticut River on June 4th.



A BLACK-BACKED WOODPECKER nest can be seen from the viewing platform at the 
end of the trail out to Little Cherry Pond in the Pondicherry National 
Wildlife Refuge in Jefferson. The nest is located in a dead black spruce 
about 400 feet across the water to the southwest. A spotting scope is 
recommended. The birds were last reported on June 7th.



A BLACK-BACKED WOODPECKER, a WHITE-WINGED CROSSBILL, several GRAY JAYS and 
BOREAL CHICKADEES, a PHILADELPHIA VIREO, and BAY-BREASTED, TENNESSEE, 
MOURNING, and WILSON'S WARBLER were reported from Pittsburg on June 6th.



A late-migrant PHILDELPHIA VIREO was reported from Amherst on June 9th.



A PEREGRINE FALCON was seen in Hampton on June 5th.



A PIED-BILLED GREBE was reported from Airport Marsh in Whitefield on June 
6th.
