Dear all,

I urgently need to find out the etymology of _Mardi_
that appeared in the name of various organizations in
the 20th century, and also in personal names, in the
latter case often with additional prothetic _Su-_.

The first mentioned organizational names were typically
Javanese, and I assume that the personal name too,
particularly when augmented to _Sumardi_, is Javanese.
However, the name appears all over the Archipelago,
also in Malaysia (particularly in Sarawak).

I haven't found _mardi_ in either New or Old Javanese
dictionaries. Could it be cognate with _Mardiyah_
that is apparently of Arabic origin?
