Today I saw my first "V" of Canada geese headed south over the CT
River flyway, only to be followed by wave after wave of others
following their well-worn path. A welcoming, primordial sound in the
autumn air.

A good vantage to watch and hear migrating geese is by kayak on
Montshire bay at Foley Point, away from the roar of traffic across
the bridge. Foley Point will be coming up as an agenda item at a to
be announced Norwich Select Board meeting. If you feel strongly about
preserving the point as a public park for bird watchers and others
please attend and speak up. The idea of preservation for this lovely
place is alive and well and awaits the action of the select board,
whose members are given by Vermont statute the authority to designate
and lay out public parks.
