I stopped briefly at the Ledyard Bridge on my way to campus this morning to try
to find Spencer and Doug Hardy's Orchard Orioles. I neither saw nor heard any
signs of the orioles, unfortunately, but I enjoyed a close Green Heron flyover
-- it flew right over my head and spiraled down to land on the water on the west
side of the tracks. In addition to the usual suspects singing at this spot (American
Redstart, Warbling Vireo, Gray Catbird, Song Sparrow, Yellow Warbler, Red-eyed
Vireo, etc.), there was a pair of Wood Ducks in the water on the east side of
the tracks.
