After the Mascoma Audubon hike today I went by the site of the Blue-
winged that was reported on Sunday in Windsor. It was 10 AM, windy
and clouding over. At the bottom of the orchard hill a male Rose-
breasted Grosbeak was singing from the top of an apple tree. The Blue-
Winged immediately hopped up on a low bush beside me. Excellent
though brief look and he retreated without ever singing. It was a
needle in a haystack. This is indeed a wonderful secluded site.
Other sightings of interest among 22 species in a 30 minute ramble up
the hill were a Field Sparrow, a Warbling Vireo and an Indigo
Bunting at the junction with Pond Road.
