Add us to the list of those with visiting Barred Owls. One was perched in
our dooryard this eveing (5p~8p) perched on the white pine bough overlooking
the immense pile of seed residue below the hanging feeders, no doubt waiting
for a noctural rodent to venture forth.
Almost as good a sighting that we had of one during the daytime, perched
atop the
corn feeder, picking off whatever was crawling beneath the light snow cover
to the ground seeds. Since our neighbors also commented about seeing a
barred owl at their feeders, we figured it had a trap line going.
