An otherwise bird-scant walk through Warner Meadows and Hillside
Cemetery this morning was highlighted by an first-year Northern Shrike
in the cemetery. Great looks as the bird foraged by sallying to the
ground, twice picking up and eating what looked like a dark caterpillar
or grub. I wondered if they were wooly bears -- does anyone know if
shrikes take these?

On each of the past 3 days a flock of 10-20 Bohemian Waxwings has
alighted in a treetop at the VCE office at Palmer Court in WRJ.
