Teaching Foreign/Second Languages at a Distance
This six-week course supports faculty working with any foreign or second
language course. It addresses the conceptualization, development, and
implementation of online language courses and/or course components.
Participants will learn fundamental design and instructional strategies for
making optimal use of technologies in their online language teaching.
Topics include:
-Principles of Online Language Teaching and Learning
-Designing Online Interactive Exercises
-Audio for Effective Instruction
-Effective Use of Video
-Introducing the Virtual Classroom
-Discussion Boards: Anatomy of Online Instructional Conversations
-Integrating Web-based Materials
Participants are expected to have basic computer skills such as Word
processing, communicating via email, Internet searching, etc. Examples are
