To make sure the essence of what is needed is clear, I would need to be
able to both read and write (and do so a great many times) with this
technique. Does that change anyone's opinion? BTW, security is only a
very minor issue.

In honor of THE MATRIX RELOADED:
In the first movie, close to the climax, Keanu Reeves and Carrie Ann Moss
take a harrowing express ride up an elevator by explosively disconnecting
the counterweight. Just before activating the detonator, Reeves says
something. What was it that he said? Answer: Recalling his visit to the
Oracle only a few hours earlier, and his encounter with a very young, very
mystical looking child of perhaps seven years, Reeves says, "There is no
spoon."

I have not heard this. I *have* heard of people who deal with client
files via this technique. Disk Copy images can be encrypted, providing
decent privacy.
I have not heard of any unreliability regarding applications however.
Why do you suggest so?
